If there is an acute crisis and you feel the person is irrational, out of control or may be a danger to themselves or others, call:

Police Emergency Number:  Dial 911   Tell them it is a mental health emergency and that you would like a CCIT or CIT trained officer

They will usually take the person to the Emergency Room at Cape Cod Hospital where they will be evaluated.  If it appears to be a mental health issue, the person may be sent to the “purple unit” for further assessment.  At that point, they may be hospitalized either at the Cape Cod Psychiatric Unit  or another hospital.  Another alternative is Partial Hospitalization which has the benefits of hospitalization (medication review, group therapy, etc.) but patients do not stay overnight.
